Description
Our organic Sri Lankan (Ceylon) steeps up with a brisk, hearty feel that this island nation’s tea is known for. The small leaf size brews quick and strong, making this an excellent cup to get you going in when you need a caffeine jolt.
A strong woodsy aroma makes a pleasant first impression. Then the flavor settles into earthy territory, with a clean mineral note—full, but not too heavy—and a crisp finish. If you crave some variety with your breakfast tea options, or if you like a no-nonsense chilled or iced tea, then try our loose leaf Sri Lankan black.
Englishman James Taylor introduced tea to Sri Lanka in the 1860’s. Sri Lanka is now a major exporter of tea, much of which is orthodox black tea to the Middle East and Russia.
Formerly known as the British Colony of Ceylon in 1815, Sri Lanka achieved independence from Britain in 1948 and renamed itself Sri Lanka in 1972. In 2011, the Sri Lankan government had a goal to remove the name Ceylon from all things it had control over, including tea! Cheers to the sovereign Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the fourth highest producer of tea worldwide!
Lake Missoula Tea Company commits to direct-sourcing teas and botanicals from sustainable farms. First we choose organic ingredients, and then we create our blends in small batches. In short, we love to drink this stuff, and we’re proud to share with you the tastiest, freshest tea possible. Store away from light and oxygen, and your teas will keep for a good long time.

So far this is the finest black tea I’ve enjoyed out of the first four of your organic black teas tried. All were good; I think this is exceptional. Look forward to trying the rest I ordered.
