Description
Green Puerh Button shows off the nuances of raw puerh, to excellent advantage! Unlike many tuocha bricks, these buttons contain whole leaves that generously reward multiple steeps. Green puerh’s complexity makes the flavor profile hard to pin down; this engaging tea can occupy an entire morning and afternoon. The fermented, musty quality of ripe puerh lingers in the background, along with a hearty spice reminiscent of lighter-bodied oolongs. Then a marine quality presides over the flavor, almost—but not quite—like a fine Japanese green tea. The more you taste this tea, the more you end up craving it.
Because these Green Puerh Buttons contain large leaves, we recommend a first steep with boiling water. This helps the leaves to separate and begin unfurling. After the initial steep, let your palate guide you. As with many teas, a longer steep with boiling water will taste heartier, while a shorter and cooler steep allows the finer aromatics to come through.
This Green Puerh Button comes from Jingmai Mountain in southern Yunnan. The Dai people have been hand-picking the ancient tea trees for millennia, ensuring quality and continuing this time-honored tradition. These trees, which range from 700 to 1,000 years old, produce tea leaves with remarkable flavor and flexible steeping quality. In addition, the ancient tea trees thrive in a diverse forest that provides rich antioxidants and nutrients. One more reason to savor this exquisite tea.
