Have you heard that green tea is good for you? It’s full of antioxidants and simply something you should do for a healthy lifestyle. You know this. But…you want to drink more green tea, but find it bitter? No matter how good something is for you, you won’t drink it if it doesn’t taste good to you. You need to brew green tea right, so you can drink this green goodness!
Brew green tea at a lesser temperature than you would black tea. Add a little cold water to the cup and leaves before adding boiled water, or use an electric kettle or thermometer at 170 to 180 degrees. If you overheat green tea, the flavor is lost and will be replaced with an astringent cup of tea.
And remember, green tea usually steeps for less time than black tea. Steep 2 to 3 minutes to see how you like that. If you want it a little stronger, brew longer. If it’s a tad bitter, brew for less time or a cooler temperature. In the end, if your green tea is still bitter, don’t toss it! Simply add more water to it. You’ll know the next time you brew that tea to lower the water temperature of steeping time.
Trust you’ll figure out how to brew green tea to your liking if you keep these ideas in mind!
