Description
Golden Eyebrows Jin Jun Mei occupies a special place in our tea cabinet. Consider it the refined version of a Golden Monkey style tea. The cup contains many of the same tasting notes—nutty, malty, with a soft fruit presence and floral aromatics. Yet, rather than stand apart, these notes blend together in an effortless waltz. The malty core softens the loamy bass note, creating the impression of fresh walnuts. The floral notes weave in and out of the other flavors. For an eminently smooth and complex tea, we earnestly recommend Golden Eyebrows.
Jin Jun Mei translates as “beautiful golden eyebrows”. This style of tea highlights the “tippy” buds of the tea plant. In early spring, pickers harvest a bud and only the first leaf, rather than the more typical bud with two leaves. These buds (the youngest growth on the tea plant) generally contain more caffeine than the leaves, with a more nuanced flavor profile. Tea buds are also rich in nutrients. Golden Eyebrows is cultivated at high elevation, and the leaf is twisted to increase nuance and sweetness. This tea never turns bitter; steep multiple times, and experiment with different steeping techniques, including gong fu style. This multi-layered tea rewards inquistive, careful attention.
Lake Missoula Tea Company commits to direct-sourcing teas and botanicals from sustainable farms. First we choose organic ingredients, and then we create our blends in small batches.
