Our last day in Taiwan was in the beautiful city of Taipei. We visited the Chiang Kai-Chek Memorial, a massive, neo classical monument. Chiang Kai-Chek was the leader of the Chinese Nationalist. We stopped into a tiny tea shop and immediately made more tea friends. They shared oolong tea with us and we bought a small bag of some of the most delicious black tea we’d ever had. We later learned this tea was called Ruby 18, an exquisite varietal coming out of Taiwan. Our son Uriah had the opportunity to practice his Chinese language skills while at the tea shop. We learned that the proprietors owned a small farm outside of Taiwan. When we return to Taipei, we’ll visit our new found friends’ tea shop again.
Our last stop in Taipei was the hip and modern Creative Park – a converted wine factory to art shops and cafes. Taipei is a modern, easy to navigate, Asian city with Chinese, Japanese and Western influences.
