Herbal Tea Overview

Herbal teas are commonly known as functional and botanical blends. They generally contain little to zero “true” tea: black, green, white, etc. Peppermint tea is a notable example of a common functional tea that has aided upset stomachs for hundreds of years. In addition, most functional teas are almost all caffeine free. The exception is the few with small amounts of “true” tea and or yerba mate. Our blog below provides more information on functional tea benefits for you and any ailments you may want to alleviate with tea!

We blend over thirty unique botanical blends, and half of them are created with the intention to aid in a specific restorative process. Functional tea benefits are far reaching. Here are five functional teas that cover a wide range of common conditions everyone experiences.

Functional Teas to Try

No Thyme for Cold & Flu A botanical blend that packs a punch during cold and flu season. Thyme is the prominent ingredient, known for clearing the respiratory tract and acting as a decongestant. It is a powerful antiseptic – antiviral, anti fungal, antimicrobial, and antibiotic. Licorice is included to help clear the respiratory tract, and to aid in indigestion. Elderberry, echinacea and marshmallow root are also featured in this blend to boost the immune system. It has a thyme forward flavor and finishes with sweet licorice lingering on your tongue. While it has a ton of medicinal properties, you won’t know it with its glorious flavor!

A Healthy Lifestyle

Understand that tea promotes a healthy, wholesome lifestyle, devoid of jitters, caffeine crashing, and stress. Functional teas cannot guarantee immediate results. Just like brewing tea takes time, sometimes so do the benefits of drinking it. Not every botanical blend has a specific function in mind either. Some are simply created to capture a flavor and taste good. That is why we have separated them on our website.

Lastly, we acknowledge the recommended brew times for all of our teas, but with regards to our functional blends, longer brewing times may be suggested to provide more potent effects. Longer steeping times for botanicals maximizes on the benefits-including minerals, proteins, vitamins, and antioxidants. Read more about it at Fresh Cup.

So get steeping and sipping your way to a life that utilizes herbal tea!

I had a friend share some of their instant golden latte mix with me and it is amazing. I suffer from really bad inflammation in my hands and this calms it down so well. It is also very delicious so I just had to get some of my own. They also sent me some stickers, a nice note and a sample. It was so sweet. My cat definitely approves. Thank you!

Best store in Montana possibly in all of the United States. I don't know. This is the first Gong Fu tea shop I've ever been to. I came in for a matcha whisk because I donated mine to a museum. Before I left a random customer who was introduced to me as a regular bought me tea. I hugged him which isn't something I normally do. But I was incredibly thankful. Then the man behind the counter gave me a free sample. I went in looking for a simple tool and left with tea and a happy spirit. I am looking forward to making it back as soon as possible! I loved it. I think it will always hold a special place in my blood pumping organ.

I've been going to Lake Missoula Tea Company for years, and recently have had the privilege of putting some of their tea in my store. The quality of the tea is fantastic, and the blends are delightful. I have also attended one of their tasting / learning events and it was great. I highly recommend their downtown store for meeting with friends, family or even just for a nice place to go and have a cup of perfectly brewed tea.
