Matcha Whisk

A bamboo matcha whisk — known traditionally as a chasen — is the essential tool for preparing smooth, frothy matcha. The fine bamboo tines break up clumps and incorporate air into the matcha as you whisk, creating the creamy texture and froth that defines a well-prepared bowl. No other tool replicates this result.

How to use: Rinse your matcha bowl with hot water to pre-warm it, then pour the water out. Sift 2g of matcha into the bowl, add water heated to around 175–185°F, and whisk in a brisk back-and-forth "W" motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and frothy. Rinse the whisk immediately after use and allow to air dry — never leave it submerged.
