Yunnan Black Tower makes a stunning presentation—tea leaves with numerous golden tips, braided into cones that open up while brewing. Golden buds give an inviting raspberry-sweetness to the aroma, which lingers at the upper edge of the flavor profile. Longer steeps bring out the rustic tobacco flavor often associated with Yunnan Province teas, releasing a sharp mineral edge to the aftertaste.
For a visual-and-mouthwatering treat, brew this tea in a glass container and watch the cones unfurl! When steeped, these cones resist bitterness, making them both extremely versatile and a nice choice for gong fu brewing. But even then, the tea remains smooth, medium-bodied, and—with a malty sweet undercurrent—utterly drinkable.
