Blue Gaiwan - Gong Fu Cha Brewing Bowl
A gaiwan is a traditional Chinese lidded bowl used for brewing whole leaf tea in the gong fu cha style — short, fast steeps with a high ratio of tea to water that allow you to taste each infusion as the flavor evolves. This blue ceramic gaiwan is a straightforward, well-designed entry point into that style of brewing.
Works especially well with puerh, oolong, and other premium whole leaf teas. Add your leaves, pour in hot water, use the lid to hold back the leaves as you pour, and repeat the process multiple times until the flavor fades. Each steep reveals something slightly different — it's a patient, rewarding way to get to know a tea.
A note on the strainer: The built-in strainer has a coarser mesh, so it works best with larger whole leaf teas. For finer cuts, pairing it with a separate fine-mesh strainer gives you a cleaner pour.
Cups not included — we recommend our double-walled glass cups as a natural pairing.
