Description
Sangamon Sunset Red is an organic black tea from the ancient tea trees of Yunnan. This tea is a beautiful long leaf tea with sweet undertones of honey and sour apricot. Hold off on milk or sweetener, the flavor is divine without it. Additionally, it’s the recipient of the North American Tea Buyer’s Black Tea Award. We are proud to carry this award winning tea in Missoula, Montana.
Handpicked from the ancient tea trees by the Dai people for millennia, this exquisite black comes from Jingmai Mountain in Yunnan. This particular tea is picked after cicada-like bugs feast on the edges of the leaf. The chemistry of the leaf changes due to a reaction to the cicadas agitating the tea leaf. Because the ancient tea trees grow in a natural, rainforest environment, the leaf provides a unique combination of rich antioxidants, nutrients, and minerals.
Sangamon refers to the last interglacial period when glaciers receded (approx 80,000 years ago), and just before the development of glacial Lake Missoula. This was a period of relative calm, allowing the mega-fauna to thrive, including the woolly mammoth and saber tooth cat.
Sangamon Sunset Red is a Top Shelf tea.
Organic Chinese black tea.

I had always considered myself a strong black tea person until I tried this one. This tea has both the aroma and a lightly sweet flavor of honey that makes for a wonderful drinking experience. I couldn’t bring myself to add any milk or sugar- it was just that good on its own (although I’m sure it would taste lovely with additions too)
I’ll definitely be purchasing this one again, after trying a few other LMTC teas of course!
